Boarding FAQ

What vaccinations are needed to board my dog?

For dogs DHPPC and Rabies must be current. DHPPC every year and Rabies every 3 years after the first year. The Bordetella (kennel cough) must be done every 6 months for boarding.

Is there any risk when boarding my pets even if they’re vaccinated?

Yes. Unfortunately. Even though it happens, it doesn’t happen very often. Every dog and cats immune system is different just like people. The very young and very old are the ones that are most likely to get sick.

What are the most common illnesses that occur when a dog or cat are boarded?

The most common is of course Kennel Cough (Bordetella). When there is large number of dogs in the same area sharing the same small space, the air borne virus is in high concentration so dogs that are weak in their immune system are likely to get kennel cough. The other illness would be upset stomach. Dogs and Cats not used to being kennel and are hyper or very nervous can get chronic upset stomach where they are constantly straining themselves causing light bleeding. Cats only risk is feline leukemia, the only way the cats can get it if there are interaction between cats. And there is no interaction between cats what so ever.

Here at Country Waggin, we take every precaution to ensure your pets safety & health and even have a special filtration system to consistely clean the air.
